Developers Parabola are optimistic that their proposed scheme at Edinburgh Park will be approved as it reaches the next stages of the planning process with the City of Edinburgh Council.
An opportunity has arisen to view and comment on the vision for the 43 acres of land which will have homes for 3,500 people and offices for 8000 workers. Also included are football pitches, tennis courts, and a yoga and pilates health suite.
The exhibition opens at the Novotel hotel at Edinburgh Park station in May 2018.
Alex Cole-Hamilton, MSP for Edinburgh West, said:
“One of the criticisms of the other developers is that they have been constructing dormitories rather than communities but I don’t get a sense of that with Parabola – the idea of community seems quite important to them."
“Identifying an area with good public transport links and formed with health promotion, creative spaces and art installations make it a far easier proposal to support.”

Parabola founder Peter Millican OBE said:
“Our vision is unashamedly ambitious – to create a new vibrant community and architectural exemplar designed around the happiness and success of its people. We’re building a new working and living community, redefining modern Edinburgh with a new gateway for the capital."
“We’ve undertaken considerable research in the UK and across Europe in order to create a vision which we hope will represent a new ‘place’ for the city.”
Tony Hordon, managing director of Parabola, added: “We have a vision which is deliverable and will vastly enhance the immediate area for our neighbours.
“In our consultation to date we have been greatly encouraged by the positive support of our vision from our neighbours and leading stakeholders in the city."
“In many ways, these are possibly the best connected commercial and residential sites in the UK – next to the airport, with train stations, tram stops, public transport access and fantastic cycling and pedestrian links."
“Subject to planning, we are committed to a first phase which we hope to commence in the summer of next year."
“Parabola is committed to delivering affordable homes in the early stages of development as part of 1800 residential units on the site.”
Gavin Barrie, economy leader at Edinburgh City Council, said: “This land is in a key development zone for the city and it is great news to hear that the developer is seeking to move forward."
“The right development would transform the area injecting new life into this brownfield site and we are looking forward to working with the developer.”

Parabola acquired the largest commercial development site in Edinburgh in late 2013: the remaining 50 acres of development land at Edinburgh Park, with existing planning permission for 2 million sq ft of offices, hotels and retail.
Edinburgh Park presented Parabola with a significant opportunity to acquire a strategic land holding adjacent to the airport, motorway and national train network while also being poised to capitalise on the added impact of the new tram service.
Its development potential is further enhanced by the improving Edinburgh office market.A project team has now been appointed and work has commenced on a revised masterplan for the site with a view to commencing development from 2015.
