The name of this area was formerly Hayweights and this is where a number of agricultural markets took place.
The tram line on the road between Donaldson’s building and Haymarket was the first place in 1884 where an Electric Tram ran in Britain (powered from an external source).
Main inter-change for Haymarket Railway Station; some Scottish Citylink Buses; some Lothian Buses; the Edinburgh International Conference Centre and nearest stop along with Balgreen) to Heart of Midlothian (Hearts) Football Club.
